About Us
The Proctor Family 2008Heritage Martial Arts is composed of a five member family of Mixed Martial Artists who began training in Tae Kwon Do in 1995. The family’s children were raised in a Dojo, which meant they had Grand Parents and Grand Masters as well, to show them the way.
Mixed Martial Artists best describes this group because they teach several different disciplines learned from Michigan’s best Masters and Grand Masters. Herb Proctor, founder and head trainer said: “Our foundation is truly Tae Kwon Do, however, we feel there is not one specific art that works completely for every one. We pull from our diverse background to be the best instructors we can be. We are presently training with our Grand Master, B. C. YU in Ann Arbor at Tae Kwon Do Institutes of America. He is the real deal - an 9th Degree Korean Grand Master with over 48 years of experience. It is truly a blessing to train with him!”
Heritage Martial Arts is made up of six Black Belt instructors ranging in age from 14 to 45 years old. Belt range is from 2 Degree Black Belt to 4th Degree Black Belt. The school has a unique alliance with Mills Gymnastic of Southgate MI. which enables students to train there. As a result, students learn the principles of proper ground techniques and basic Gymnastics, which are the fundamentals of Extreme Martial Arts
